Great Lakes Regional Representative: Donna Conley

Donna is the CEO of Ohio Citizen Advocates for Chemical Dependency Prevention and Treatment, a position she has held since its founding in 2001. She has also worked as the director of a community alcohol and other drug prevention coalition and has more than twenty years experience as an administrator in Ohio’s child welfare system at both county and state levels. Donna holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Wayne State University and an MBA from Franklin University. She is an Ohio Licensed Social Worker, an Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist II and the recipient of a several awards in recognition of her advocacy on behalf of prevention, treatment and recovery.

Description:
When people want to have a great time while supporting a great cause, they head for the annual Dawn Farm Jamboree. The Jamboree is a family event with free admission and free activities for all ages, including great live music all day by a popular local band, hayrides, animals to pet, pony rides, lots of games and activities for children, a rock climbing wall, tours of the 74 acre farm, and live and silent auctions and a gift table with a variety of donated goods and services, many at bargain prices! Food and beverages will be available. Our annual Founder’s Day award ceremony will honor a local supporter for his/her contributions to Dawn Farm and the recovering community. Dawn Farm welcomes all to join us and share in celebrating our successes in helping addicts and alcoholics become part of the recovering community, and to celebrate the tremendous power of recovery in the lives of individuals, families, and our entire community. Dawn Farm is the only residential treatment program in the area, and funds raised from this event will help defray treatment costs for individuals who have no other resources.

Event: Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do Organization: Dawn Farm Event Date: 2011-06-14 (first and second Tuesdays October through June each year) Time: 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm City: Ann Arbor Location: St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Education Center, 5305 Elliott Drive, Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197. Description: "Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do" is a FREE, ongoing, two-part workshop series designed to help participants learn to understand, identify and address adolescent alcohol/other drug problems. Part 1 is presented on the first Tuesday of each month from October through June, provides information on how to understand and recognize the signs of a teen substance abuse problem, and includes a short video. Part 2 is presented on the second Tuesday of each month from October through June, provides information on what should and should not be done when a teen substance abuse problem is recognized, and concludes with an open talk by a young speaker in recovery. The series is presented by Ronald E. Harrison, and is co-sponsored by Dawn Farm, the Livingston/Washtenaw Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act Consortium, and Saint Joseph Mercy Health System Mission Services. All workshops are free and open to all. The presentations are targeted primarily to parents and caretakers of teens, but are also inclusive of teens, family members, people who work with teens, students, and anyone interested in attending for any reason.
