Read CURTIS OLIVER's Story
July 25, 1990 I walked into a treatment facility a beaten and broken shell of a man. I was sure I needed help. You see, six years prior I was trained as substance abuse specialist while in the military. My reason then was to learn how to keep using alcohol and drugs successfully. I was introduced to recovery, but I was not ready. I tried again in 1988, and because of internal issues and not seeing anyone in the rooms that looked like me, I went back out (the disease of addiction has many tools block the real reality of the opportunity to recover). I started my recovery in 1990 and decided to stay a while. 26 years later I still carry the message inside and outside the 12 step rooms.
