Hello Friends & Colleagues,
We at Faces & Voices hope you are healthy and doing well despite the challenges we’re facing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Everything as we know it has been changing to this new normal and if any good comes of it will be the incredible stories of hope and resiliency from people in recovery, not only surviving but also thriving- going above and beyond to support our peers in the recovery community.
Our team at Faces & Voices, and the Board of Directors, have been grappling with whether or not to cancel the 2020 National Leadership Summit scheduled for June 15-17 in Arlington, VA. Most importantly, out of concern for attendees health and well-being, we also wanted to be sure that the on-site experience was viable as well as accessible to all, given the economic impact RCOs may be facing.
Earlier this week the Governor of Virginia declared a stay-at-home order until June 10th. That was what confirmed our belief that canceling the on-site program was in the best interest of all involved. With no gatherings permitted of groups of more than 10 people at a time until that date, we would risk the possible extension of that order.
