Advocacy 101

Understanding and Navigating Today's Legislative Landscape

In May of 2021, President Biden introduced the Fiscal Year 2022 Budget, which included – for the first time in history – a 10% set-aside for recovery support services in the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) Block Grant. What does this mean for recovery advocates and how do we make sure that Congress passes the budget with the set-aside for recovery? Webinar attendees will gain a basic understanding of the federal legislative process to help make sure the voice of recovery advocates are heard loud and clear. By developing advocacy skills and effectively communicating ideas and concerns to legislators our community can further become a constituency of consequence!
