SUMMARY:[ORN] Workforce Multiplier Series: Peer Support for OUD\, Stimulant & Polysubstance Use – Motivational Interviewing for ​Peer Empowerment
DESCRIPTION:This training introduces Motivational Interviewing (MI) as a person-centered communication approach that empowers individuals to explore and strengthen their own motivation for change.  Participants learn the core principles of MI\, including partnership\, acceptance\, compassion\, and evocation\, along with key concepts such as ambivalence\, change talk\, reactance\, and the “righting reflex.” The training includes hands-on practice using MI techniques to support behavior change conversations in peer settings. \nFunding for this initiative was made possible (in part) by grant no. 1H79TI088037 from SAMHSA.
