RCO Mission Statement

The Reintegration Support Network provides youth with a sense of belonging and the skills and capacities for self-advocacy, healthy relationships, and positive engagement in the community. RSN serves youth 13-20 who are in recovery from substance use disorder and/or are receiving services for mental health issues and/or court involvement.

Services Offered

Mentor Program: The Reintegration Support Network (RSN) Mentor Program is a volunteer opportunity for adults 18+ with a high school diploma or GED. Individuals eligible for the Mentor Program will either already have their NC Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) certification or RSN would provide scholarships to complete the requirements for their NCCPSS certification. The RSN volunteer Mentor/peer support specialist is a two-hour per week service commitment over 6-months.

RSN mentors partner with the RSN Program Director and Mentor Program Coordinator, RSN Staff members, and community partners to provide youth and emerging adults with a sense of belonging and the skills and capacities for self-advocacy, healthy relationships and positive engagement in the community.

Youth Peer Support Groups/Youth MeetUps: The Reintegration Support Network in partnership with Recovery Communities of North Carolina (RCNC) host two different youth gatherings, our Youth Peer Support Groups (YPSG) and Youth MeetUps. RSN’s YPSG’s have a structured, yet adaptable format that provides topics for discussion and activities relevant to self-awareness & advocacy, building healthy relationships, and positive engagement in the community. The RSN Youth MeetUps were an idea berthed out of the confusion and emotion recent times have been producing. The Youth Meet Ups are designed to provide a space for our community youth to come listen, share, and connect with peers.

Proudest Accomplishment

When 18 year-old Matt McQuiston died from a drug overdose following months of treatment, Matt’s family and friends established a memorial fund to provide necessary support systems to prevent similar devastation to the lives of youth and their families. This funding planted the seed for Reintegration Support Network. After 8 years of primarily volunteer-led efforts to provide support to community youth, RSN partnered with Recovery Communities of North Carolina to establish the state’s first youth-focused RCO. With funding from a 3-year Substance Abuse Mental Health Administration Services “Building Communities of Recovery” grant RSN has brought a vitally needed community resource into being.
