Recovery advocates know that strong recovery support services depend on sustained investment. Yet many of the federal funding decisions that impact our communities happen through a budget and appropriations process that can feel difficult to navigate.
We encourage recovery advocates, recovery community organizations, and coalition partners to explore the new U.S. Federal Appropriations Action Guide, developed by the Overdose Prevention Initiative at the Global Health Advocacy Incubator. This practical, plain-language resource breaks down how federal funding decisions are made, identifies key decision-makers, and provides advocacy tools including testimony templates, sign-on letter examples, report language, and an easy-to-follow advocacy calendar.
As recovery advocates, our voices are strongest when we understand how funding decisions are made and how to engage at the moments that matter most. We thank the Overdose Prevention Initiative for creating this valuable resource and helping advocates across the country strengthen their impact.
Download and share the guide with your networks to help ensure recovery voices are represented in federal funding conversations.
