Kristen Aja has been involved in peer-based recovery for over a decade. Shortly after she started her own recovery journey, she was on a community team that opened the 11th recovery community center in the State of Vermont. In 2013 she was hired at the Vermont Recovery Network and has extensive experience in program design and implementation, training, data collection and outcome measures, collaborations with stakeholders and community partner, and supporting a diverse workforce. Through her leadership, a statewide program was started integrating Recovery Coaches in the Hub & Spoke System of Care providing recovery supports to individuals with Opioid Use Disorder. She also was an integral part of the Recovery Coaches in Emergency Departments, as well as supporting all the recovery center staff and volunteers, recovery supports and services offered throughout the 12 recovery centers in Vermont. Kristen is also a Recovery Consultant on the SAMHSA funded State Targeted Response Technical Assistance Consortium which provide local expertise to communities to help address the opioid public health crisis.
Prior to Kristen’s work at the Vermont Recovery Network, she was a Human Resources professional for over 20 years with a heavy focus on workforce development, recruitment, employee relations, and payroll and benefits administration.
