Recovery Stories

My name is Dan Davidson I am a person in long term recovery. What that means to me is being a Voice in the recovery community. I am an Advocate and a leader in our recovery community. I am able to be a voice at the Capitol talking to Legislators. I am a member of The Better Utah Criminal Justice Reform Committee. I am a Certified Peer Support Specialist; I work at Odyssey House. I am also a volunteer at U.S.A.R.A, and a SMART Recovery facilitator. I am in my 4th semester at Salt Lake Community College, and President of a new recovery Coalition at Salt Lake Community College. We are the recovery Rock Stars of Salt Lake Community College. I also go to treatment centers and share my story. My mission is to be a Voice in Recovery. To raise awareness to smash stigmas of Mental Illness, Addiction, and Homelessness. I hope to empower others to be a Voice, and to teach others as I do. As a result of all the work I do I have been one of the individuals selected by SAMSHA to be 2016 Ambassador of Recovery for State of Utah.
