Lawrence Medina
Mr. Lawrence Medina has over 27 years of experience managing successful nonprofits serving individuals confronting addiction and criminal justice issues in urban, rural, and frontier communities. As a consultant he has also brought expertise in program design and development, fiscal management, strategic planning, marketing, and continuous quality improvement, to many programs. He is the Executive Director of the Rio Grande Alcoholism Treatment Program which serves residents in three northern New Mexico counties. In 2023, Mr. Medina received the New Mexico Behavioral Health Planning Council’s Behavioral Health Star Award.
Mr. Medina has served on many nonprofit boards and advisory committees including the Con Alma Health Foundation, Northern New Mexico Citizens Advisory Board Member (U.S. Department of Energy), and Recovery Communities of New Mexico Advisory Committee. He also served for five years on the board of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, National Advisory Council in Rockville, Maryland.
Mr. Medina is the co-founder of a recovery community organization, Recovery-Friendly Taos County, an ARCO Charter Member since 2013. Currently, he is serving on the National Steering Committee with SAMHSA’s Program to Advance Recovery Knowledge (SPARK); a member of the Addiction Policy Forum- Anti-Stigma Initiative Nationwide Project, and Vice-Chair for the New Mexico Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SABG) Block Grant Independent Peer Review Committee.
Mr. Medina has been in long-term recovery for over 33 years and holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
