In this session, we’ll explore the vital role of peer support in creating safe and affirming spaces for individuals navigating substance use and mental health challenges. Our guest will share their experiences, strategies, and successes in fostering community resilience and empowerment. Join us as we delve into the unique needs and strengths of Queer People of Color in harm reduction, and learn how compassionate, culturally competent support can make a transformative difference.

In today’s VLC, we will be interviewing Karl Ray, a community leader based in Baltimore, MD, and a peer support specialist specializing in psychiatric rehabilitation programs and mental health support for queer community members. Originally from New Jersey, Karl is passionate about sharing lived experiences and reducing overdose by supporting queer community members’ mental health and providing effective peer support care linkage.
