Carlos Hardy
Over the past 27 years Mr. Hardy has served in management positions with a host of human service organizations. Carlos spent 8 years running a supportive housing Mr. Hardy’s professional career includes time spent managing a large supportive housing program, and another 5 years working as a drug treatment organizer, focusing on N.I.M.B.Y (Not in My Back Yard) issues. After a two-year stint serving as Executive Director with the Maryland Chapter of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD-MD), Mr. Hardy spent 2009 – 2012 serving as Director of Outreach and Community Engagement with Baltimore City’s local treatment authority, the former Baltimore Substance Abuse Systems Incorporated (BSAS).
In 2012 Mr. Hardy stepped out on faith and founded his own recovery-led and recovery driven Recovery Community Organization (RCO), The Maryland Recovery Organization Connecting Communities (M-ROCC). Shortly after, M-ROCC received a three-year grant award from the Maryland Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) to organize recovery house providers as a membership association, while designing and implementing a certification and inspection process for recovery housing in Maryland. By the conclusion of the BHA contract M-ROCC had certified over 90 supportive housing programs, representing a collective bed capacity of over 1000 recovery beds. Currently Mr. Hardy serves as Program Director at the Dee’s Place – Wellness and Recovery Center. Carlos has been in long-term recovery since September 1993, and is the uber-proud dad of an awesome 14-year-old, Antonio.
