My name is Guadalupe Javier Baltazar Espinoza and go by Javier Baltazar (He/She/They/2s). I was born in Mexico, in a small town in the desert northwest of Guadalajara in the state of Jalisco. In 1990, my parents moved to the USA to give our family more opportunities and a better life. I did K-12 in Monterey Bay, learned English, worked hard and decided to be the scholar of the family.

From 2005-2008, I went to the Art Institute of California – San Diego, focused on graphic design, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. From 2008-2011, I continued my studies at the Academy of Art University at The School of Motion Pictures and Television focused on Cinematography, and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree. I became the first in my family to attend and graduate from college with an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree.

In 2011 my professional journey began as a graphic designer, video editor, photographer, and camera operator. I used the software skills to design for print and digital usage, compile videos, assist in camera operating during interviews, and photograph events and conferences.

With design and art, I believe you are always a student, learning new skills and techniques to improve yourself and your projects. My current interest is in the UI/UX Design world; to capture the attention of someone and have them interact with an app or website and bring out certain emotions through design fascinates me.

My portfolio represents my versatility as a designer and my professional execution of projects.
