Javier Soto is originally from Laredo, Tx.  He graduated from Texas A&M International University with a Psychology major and minor in Sociology.  Javier moved to Austin in the Summer of 2011.  The lovely staff from Williamson County DWI drug court saved his life and allowed him to grow into the person he is today.  Today Javier is a better son, brother, husband, father, friend, godfather, peer recovery coach, and human being because of his recovery.

Javier is currently a Recovery Support Services Manager at Communities for Recovery.  He has been a part of this amazing organization since July 2014.   He is a person in long term recovery and what that means to him is living life to his fullest potential without the need to use alcohol or other substances since October 2, 2012.  His passion is helping those who have had justice involvement during their journey.  The first four and a half years Javier worked closely with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Travis County Sheriff’s Office, and has been a liaison with several drug courts.

Javier has been a certified trainer for the Peer Recovery Support Specialist/Recovery Support Peer Specialist since April 2018.  He received his certification as a Peer Specialist Supervisor in December of 2018 and he has trained over 200 Peer Recovery Coaches throughout the state of Texas.

In February 2019, he joined the Behavioral Health and Criminal Justice Advisory Committee and the Behavioral Health Advisory Committee with the State in April 2021.

Javier states, “I have rekindled with my wellness throughout my recovery journey and got back to loving myself by running and exercising.  I always love a great conversation!!”
