Marci Marie Simmons
Marci Marie Simmons is the Assistant of Public Affairs at Faces & Voices of Recovery. She obtained her AA in Communications during her incarceration, an experience that deepened her passion for advocacy and justice reform. As a formerly incarcerated woman and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Marci Marie has channeled her lived experience into her work with organizations like Lioness Justice Impacted Women’s Alliance, where she focuses on advocacy and community engagement for justice-impacted women and LGBTQ+ individuals.
As a Represent Justice Ambassador, Marci Marie uses her platform to amplify the voices of those affected by the criminal legal system, employing her skills in graphic design, storytelling, social media strategy, and digital campaigns. She also co-hosts On the Recyard Women’s Prison Podcast, dedicated to addressing the unique challenges and resilience of incarcerated women.
A strong ally to the recovery community, Marci Marie is committed to helping others through their recovery journeys and breaking down stigma. She cares for her two young nephews, and her grandmother spending time with them in her free moments. Marci Marie lives in Texas with her wife, and together, they advocate for change, LGBTQ+ rights, and community empowerment.
