[ORN] Advanced RCO Bootcamp (2-Day Training)

September 11, 2025 - September 12, 2025

This two-day training is designed for leaders and emerging leaders of Recovery Community Organizations (RCOs) who are ready to deepen their operational strategy and long-term sustainability. Building on foundational concepts, the Advanced RCO Bootcamp provides 12 hours of instructional content across governance, fiscal strategy, evaluation and data use, performance measurement, logic models, strategic planning tools, and leadership mindset. Participants engage through facilitated discussion, real-world case examples, guided breakout sessions, and applied activities. The training prepares attendees to assess their organization’s current capacity, identify areas of growth, and develop clear strategies for continuous improvement and long-term impact.

Patty McCarthy

Patty McCarthy, M.S., has been the Chief Executive Officer of Faces & Voices of Recovery since 2015. Prior to joining Faces & Voices, she was a senior associate with the Center for Social Innovation (C4), where she served as a deputy director of SAMHSA’s BRSS TACS initiative.  Patty served for a decade as the director of Friends of Recovery-Vermont (FOR-VT), a statewide recovery community organization conducting training, advocacy and public awareness activities. In addition to public policy and education, her work has focused on community mobilizing, peer-based recovery support services, and peer workforce development and was instrumental in the development of a national accreditation standards for peer recovery support service providers. She holds a master’s degree in community counseling and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and has been in long-term recovery from alcohol and drug addiction since 1989.

Matt Boggs

Matt Boggs is the CEO and co-founder of Ryker Douglas, which provides consulting, property development, and owns a portfolio of substance use disorder treatment centers and recovery homes. He has worked in various leadership roles throughout the substance use disorder treatment and recovery field, including Executive Director of a statewide nonprofit recovery service provider and Community Relations representative for a biopharmaceutical company. Mr. Boggs is also a founding member of the West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences, a NARR Affiliate, helping launch and secure state funding to support their mission of improving housing standards across the state.

Mr. Boggs work in the substance use treatment and recovery field has been recognized throughout, including being named one of the “West Virginians of The Year” by the Gazette Mail (Charleston, WV) and one of WV Executive Magazine’s “Young Guns” for his volunteerism and work for the betterment of all West Virginian’s. He has spoken on national platforms, educating on the importance of creating a recovery-oriented system of care, and has written multiple guest columns for national publications. His passion for developing meaningful treatment systems that include authentic recovery support services is deeply rooted from his personal experience of finding recovery from substance use. Since finding recovery in 2012, Matt found his voice, advocating at the local, state, and federal levels for policies that create opportunities for people in recovery. Matt was instrumental in the passage of multiple pieces of legislation related to recovery housing, criminal justice reform, and recovery services. He was appointed in 2018 by former WV Governor Jim Justice to serve on the Governor’s Advisory Council for Prevention and Substance Use, chairing the newly established “Lived Experience Subcommittee,” which developed a statewide strategic plan to address substance use in communities.

Mr. Boggs has extensive experience in managing state, federal, and foundation grant awards that include direct services, housing, and workforce development. He also serves as a board member for The ArchWay Institute.

Matt currently lives in Pinellas Park, FL, with his wife, Megan, two daughters (Peyton and Tegan), and their two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys playing pickleball and golf.
