Recovery Month
Recovery Month was started in September of 1989 to celebrate the recovery community and highlight the importance of evidence-based treatment and recovery practices. 35 years on, it is still a highly-anticipated annual event.
Our Partnership
Recovery Month | SAMHSA
In the years since Recovery Month launched, Faces & Voices has partnered with SAMHSA to increase public awareness surrounding mental health and substance use disorder recovery.
Check out what SAMHSA is doing to support recovery and share their materials within your community. Remember: with the right treatment, support, and resources, recovery is possible!

About
International Recovery Day
International Recovery Day, held during Recovery Month, is a powerful reminder that overcoming addiction is possible.
Our mission is to support individuals, families, and communities on their recovery journeys and foster hope for overcoming addiction worldwide.
We encourage communities and organizations to light up the night in purple, celebrating progress in addiction treatment and recovery and advocating for global support for addiction recovery.
Annual Signature Event
Recovery Month Luncheon
The Recovery Month luncheon is held every September in honor of National Recovery Month, an annual observance dedicated to people with lived experience around substance use and mental health disorders. The luncheon is held in Washington, D.C., in the presence of leaders in the recovery field and advocates pushing for policy change and legislative inclusion on Capitol Hill.
